Avoca Beach

Address: 10 Vine St, Avoca Beach NSW, Australia

1.5 hrs drive to Sydney north. Plenty of parking on both north and south side of the beach.

If you are a dog lover, you will possibly like to take your dog to the center of the beach, where Avoca Lake meets the ocean.

And, if you are not a great dog lover and want to spend some quality time with your kids and family, make your way to the south side. Near the Surf Club, you will find plenty of parking and restaurant. Picnic and Toilet facility available.

The rock pool is nicely done with plenty of sea creature you can spot if you decide to snorkel. Check the under water video footage I included.

Morisset Hospital

Address: Acacia Ave, Morisset, NSW, Australia

Only 1 hr 40 min drive from Sydney.
You can also catch a train from Central Station.
Follow Acacia Ave to the Hospital entrance. The field on your left, just before the entrance is the best place to mingle with the Kangaroos.
The hospital is built at the North-West bank of the beautiful Lake Macquarie. Hospital ground is open to public. Lots of suitable places for a BBQ and fishing. Toilet facility also available, just follow the signs. Though you can meet and greet the kangaroos all day. But afternoon is the best time to catch a selfie with them. Don't forget to take some munchies.

Fairy Creek - North Wollongong

Address: Stuart Park is located on Cliff Rd, North Wollongong, NSW, Australia

Only 1 hr drive down south from Sydney.
The place has several BBQ shed, Newly built amenities and kids play ground. Also has a sea food restaurant at the end of Cliff Road. This is where Fairy Creek meets the ocean water during high tide.

The creek water was salt water, clear and warm. Most of the water depth was knee high. Makes it safe for the kids to play in water.

I also spotted fish in that creek. You might grab your rod to try your luck.

Hassans Wall Lookout

Address: Hassans Walls Reserve, Lithgow, NSW 2790
Hassan’s Walls Lookout is 2 hrs drive from Sydney and just minutes from the Lithgow town centre.
From Lithgow St. follow Hassans Wall Rd. all the way to the top.  The gravel road is suitable for 2 wheel drives. Take care while driving if the weather turns bad. Plenty of parking with couple of picnic sheds. The steel walking path will give easy access to the magnificent 180  degree view of the Blue Mountains and rolling valleys below. Hassan’s Walls Lookout is the highest scenic lookout (1130m/3707Ft) in the Blue Mountains.
Each weather provides a different experience here. When I was there, the sky was covered with thick cloud and just before the sunset. Looked like someone lit the whole sky in fire.

CoalCliff Rock Pools

Address: 24 Paterson Rd, Coalcliff NSW 2508. 1 hr drive down south from Sydney. Park your car next to the little playground. And follow the footpath, that takes you straight down to the rock pools. You will find the toilet facility on your right.

A beautiful picturesque area. Make sure you go on a low tide, si you get the chance to explore the area. In high tide, the strong southern waves are not safe.
The large salt water pool is ok for a safe swim. But this time I gave it a miss, as it was infested by weed growth.
But, well worth of travel.
